Storytelling

At Alder Hey, everything we do is inspired by children, so perhaps it’s not surprising that we love telling stories.

We collect stories told by our remarkable children and young people, their remarkable families and the remarkable people who work here, so anyone can see what goes on behind the scenes at Alder Hey.

We care for over 270,000 children and young people every year – in their homes and their communities; at hospitals across the North of England and Wales; and at our main site in Liverpool which is one of Europe’s largest and busiest children’s hospitals.

To us, every child is an individual. As well as giving them the very best care, we set out to make them feel happy, safe and confident as they play, learn and grow. We care for their families as well as them and our commitment extends beyond medicine and surgery into ensuring their physical and emotional wellbeing, however brief their stay with us.

For the last 100 years we have been providing innovative, high quality care for children and their families. In 2015 we will take a step closer to becoming recognised as a world leader in children’s healthcare and research, when we open our new state-of-the-art children’s hospital – ‘Alder Hey in the Park’.

Above everything, children and young people stand at the heart of all we do, driving us to deliver excellent care every time and to lead new thinking that will change lives for generations to come.
